Our love for animals began at a very young age—Danielle with rabbits and chickens, and dogs, Lex, Heidi and Snoopy. Mike grew up with 13 dogs, two horses, about 50 rabbits, and more than 100 pigeons for most of childhood throughout high school. Mike partly grew up on a family-owned, working commercial farm and ranch—which included a dairy, hogs, cattle and horses, and all the crops to feed and bed them. He trained cattle and hogs too during that time.

 

Mike was a Special Ops Officer in the U.S. military, and manager for large, international construction firms. During that time, Mike lived and worked in 13 countries, and 14 U.S. states, all the while continuing his love of working with animals—performing animal training, including Arabian horses and camels in the Middle East. Mike applied his love for animals to sprint dogsled racing, often with rescued animals, competing in multiple U.S. states.  

 

Being associated with Colorado State University Veterinary Research and Teaching Hospital (among others) since 1971, Mike accomplished independent study and research on animals, including wildlife. He has developed some unique and highly effective methods and techniques for training and interaction with animals, including wildlife. Athletes Feat animals are so highly trained they have starred in major, worldwide, professional marketing campaigns for Anthropologie, Apple, Casa Moda, Infinity and Land’s End. Mike was the head animal handler and trainer on each production.

 

Having recently moved to Alaska we hope to share our expertise with not just our new community, but throughout the United States and internationally.
